NEVU TÖMER conducts educational and cultural activities in various foreign languages—including primarily Turkish, as well as Persian, Arabic, Russian, and German—both in-person and online when deemed necessary, in line with social needs.
To become a TÖMER student, applicants must first apply for a "Turkish Language Learning Visa" at the Turkish Embassy in their home country and complete all the required documents requested by the embassy. After arriving in Turkey, applications are accepted upon submission of a passport photocopy, the "Course Application Form" provided by TÖMER, one photograph, and proof of payment of the required fee to the bank. Students must also apply to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management in their respective cities for a "Residence Permit for the Purpose of Learning Turkish" in addition to their Turkish Language Learning Visa.
Our center has developed its language education content, curriculum, and assessment criteria in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which is considered the European standard for teaching a language as a foreign language. Our in-person Turkish courses for foreigners are supported with various visual teaching materials. The courses are offered in five levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1. At the end of each level, certification exams are administered in the four main language skills—reading, listening, writing, and speaking—to assess whether the learning objectives have been achieved. Students must pass all four skills to progress to the next level. Students who fail in more than one skill must repeat the level. Each level consists of a 204-hour course over 6 weeks. The fee for each level is 2,500 Turkish Lira (valid for the 2024–2025 academic year). However, the curriculum and class hours may be adapted for academic needs or specialized fields.
Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University TÖMER has a dynamic and experienced academic staff specializing in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Most of the instructors hold master's or doctoral degrees and have expertise in foreign language teaching techniques.
